NISSMUN CONFERENCE THEME: Promoting Peace and Women Empowerment through the ICTs.

The conference will consider the impact of ICTs on women and their use as a tool for the empowerment of women and the promotion of peace in different countries of the world. It will address the challenges and benefits women encounter with regards to ICTs. Furthermore, the conference will develop policy recommendation and concrete actions to be taken at the national, regional and international levels that aim at securing the full benefit of ICTs in the pursuit of women empowerment and the promotion of peace.

The NIGIMUN 2006 Conference

NIGIMUN CONFERENCE THEME: Peace and Conflict Resolution: From Words to Action

An important goal of the NIGIMUN Conference in Port Harcourt is to help young people in Nigeria deal with some of the issues relating to violence, peace and conflict resolution. These issues are at the forefront of today’s headlines and are having devastating effects on our society.

The conference will also explore means by which youth can contribute to resolving conflicts of the future in a peaceful and constructive way.

The Participants will develop policy recommendations and concrete actions to be taken at the national, regional and international levels that aim at securing peaceful resolution of conflicts. The recommendations will be forwarded to the United Nations Agencies, Civil Society groups and Government Agencies.

2005 NIGIMUN Conference

Conference Theme:  UN at 60: Moving from Speeches to Action.

Three hundred and eighty students from Secondary and Tertiary Institutions gathered at the Sheraton Hotels for the maiden edition of the Nigerian International Model United Nations (NIGIMUN) Conference from the 23rd to 27th October 2005. At the conference, students deliberated on the two most important issues on the UN systems Agenda –The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and The UN Reforms.
