Comments of some of the Delegates at the Conference

Building Friendship across ethnic boundaries

"Words cannot adequately describe my joy and happiness on the opportunities presented by NIGIMUN. This exposure provided us an opportunity to build friendship across sectional, cultural, religious and national boundaries in the spirit of mutual respect and understanding. As the President of NIGIMUN General Assembly, I have been getting feedback from the delegates that the Conference is a veritable tool in the study and discussion of global issues."
-Chijioke Udeogu

"The Conference was captivating and inspiring."
-Nasir Mohammed

"The NIGIMUN conference was a delightful experience. We were away from home out of the eyes of our parents yet we were all well behaved. The UN Reforms that I participated in enlightened me on different roles that the UN has played and what they are yet to do. A topic that really taught me as an individual was the Security Council and the way they operate and also the importance of VETO power, I am glad I participated."
-Miss Afoma Onyechi
Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, Lagos

"The Conference has deepened and changed my Internet browsing orientation positively, if I may add. Before now, it was just sending and receiving mails, but now (since after the conference) it is less of mails and more of research. My mindset is of a potential DIPLOMAT. Thanks to NIGIMUN 2005."
-Mukhtar Mohammed Abbani
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira

-Miss Ibukunoluwa Oluwole

"After my participation at the conference, I found out that it was just about the only organization that maximizes the potentials of youth to move a nation like ours forward. Generally speaking, the Conference has made me an active and not a passive participant in global issues. NIGIMUN also encourages unity in diversity by bringing together people from all the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria. If this conference, which was the first of its kind ever held in Nigeria has made such tremendous achievements there is no gainsaying that people should go out of their way to encourage the conference in future."
-Miss Osuagwu Ozioma

"On a normal day, even as I was reading up on my assigned country, I could be very anti-America but when the Conference began and I was identified as the Ambassador of the United State of America, I actually began to fee like a real American and an Ambassador too. It was scary to think of all the countries present that had issues with the United States of America like Iraq, Cuba and so on. But I found myself always ready to defend my adopted country. I began to see America as a country that truly wants to make a difference –not just talking about it".
-Chinazom Izuora
Federal Government Girls’ College, Abuloma

"The Nigerian International Model United Nations conference was very educative, informative and most of all very interesting. I enjoyed representing Denmark, studying their problems in detail and speaking about it… I was able to understand how different countries get together and debate on solutions to some of the problems of the world. Apart from the fact that I was really educated, I also enjoyed meeting students from different schools in the six geo-political zones in Nigeria."

We are the livewire and hope of our nation Nigeria and the global community. The sky will be our starting point if we will take this good news to our locality. Meet you on top!”
