Preparation
In order to successfully participate in the Model United Nations program, participants must gain a basic understanding of the United Nations--its structure and internal rules of procedure. They must familiarize themselves with the foreign policy positions of their assigned country, as well as its pattern of participation within the United Nations. The country information that they will find most useful includes: current political history; historical voting patterns; speeches and statements from political leaders; resolutions their country has sponsored; and groups of countries they have formed coalitions with in drafting resolutions and voting on resolutions.
Delegates participating in the NISSMUN and NIGIMUN Conferences can visit the sites listed on our Useful Research Links and study the Rules of Procedure. For specific questions relating to the Committee topics, please contact the Conference Organizing Committee for guidance.

Accommodation of Delegates
Delegates participating at the 2006 NISSMUN and NIGIMUN Conferences will be accommodated at selected hotels in Abuja and Port Harcourt respectively. We spared nothing in our search for choice places most suitable for the students and their accompanying teachers.
12 hotels will house our delegates during the 2006 NISSMUN Conference in Abuja and 6 hotels for the NIGIMUN Conference in Port Harcourt. While we will not disclose detailed hotel information for reasons of security, it is our pleasure to inform delegates, teachers, parents and others, that pleasure, comfort and security were the benchmarks for hotel selection. The organizing team at Nigeria Model United Nations Society was diligent in narrowing the choices to fit this benchmark.
We welcome the delegates of the 2006 Model United Nations Conferences in Nigeria to a 5-day conference of intense activity, diplomacy and international exposure juxtaposed with relaxation after sessions at their hotels.
