On behalf of the Governing Council, I extend warm greetings to our students, parents, teachers, school administrators, partners, and all visitors. Your interest reflects a shared belief in the power of education, dialogue, and youth leadership to shape a better future.
Since its establishment in 2004, NigMUNS has remained committed to raising a generation of informed, confident young people equipped to engage constructively with national and global issues. As the pioneer of the Model United Nations culture in Nigeria, we have built, over the past 22 years, a strong legacy in youth development, diplomacy, and civic education.
Through our programmes and conferences, thousands of young people have passed through this platform, gaining valuable skills in public speaking, negotiation, critical thinking, and leadership. Today, many of our alumni hold impactful positions within Nigeria and internationally, reflecting the values of integrity, service, and global citizenship nurtured through NigMUNS.
Our work is anchored on four flagship conferences: the Nigerian International Secondary Schools Model United Nations (NISSMUN), the Lagos Regional Secondary Schools Model United Nations (LARSSMUN), the Nigerian International Tertiary Institutions Model United Nations (NITIMUN), and the Junior Schools International Model United Nations (JUNSIMUN). These conferences provide structured platforms for students to simulate the United Nations, engage in informed debate, and develop practical solutions to real-world challenges.
As we prepare for the 2026 editions, we are united by a central focus: “Rebuilding Trust and Bridging the Gap Between Youth and Government in the Age of Misinformation.” This theme addresses the growing disconnect between young people and governance, especially in an era where misinformation can easily influence perceptions and erode trust. Through our conferences, we aim to nurture critical thinkers, responsible communicators, and active citizens.
NigMUNS continues to benefit all stakeholders. For students, it is a transformative journey that builds confidence, broadens perspectives, and prepares them for leadership. For schools, it enhances academic excellence and promotes well-rounded development. For parents, it offers the assurance that their children are part of a platform that fosters discipline, purpose, and global awareness.
