Dear Friends, Esteemed Colleagues, and Supporters of NigMUNS,
Greetings to each one of you with a sense of profound joy and accomplishment as we celebrate the remarkable journey of Nigeria Model United Nations Society (NigMUNS) on its 20th anniversary, 2004 – 2024. What began as a vision two decades ago has evolved into an organization that stands as a beacon of impact, excellence, and a commitment to nurturing global citizens.
As the Chairman of the Governing Council, I am immensely proud to reflect on the transformative journey we have undertaken. Our three flagship conferences—NISSMUN, LARSSMUN, and NITIMUN—have been instrumental in shaping the minds of countless young leaders, fostering diplomatic skills, and instilling a sense of global responsibility.
The 20th-anniversary milestone is not merely a commemoration; it is a celebration of the collective efforts, dedication, and passion that have fueled our organization’s success. It is an affirmation of our commitment to nurturing the potential within each young mind that graces our conferences.
In line with our dedication to addressing pressing global issues, the theme for this celebratory year is “Curbing Risky Behaviors Among Young People.” This theme resonates with the challenges faced by today’s youth, and it serves as a testament to our commitment to fostering environments where young individuals can make informed, healthy choices.
Through NISSMUN, LARSSMUN, and NITIMUN, we have not only provided platforms for discourse but have actively contributed to the development of leaders who are making positive changes in their communities and beyond. It is heartening to witness the lasting impact our organization has had on the lives of those who have passed through our doors.
This milestone is an opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to every individual who has played a role in our journey—delegates, teachers, heads of schools, parents, government officials, members of the diplomatic community, civil society, volunteers, organizing committees, and sponsors. Your unwavering support has been the driving force behind our success.
As we celebrate our achievements, let us also cast our gaze forward.
