It is my great honour, as Secretary-General, to warmly welcome our delegates, parents, teachers, partners, and all visitors. Your presence reflects a shared belief in the power of young people to build a more accountable and inclusive society. This year’s theme, “Rebuilding Youth Trust in Governance in an Era of Misinformation,” highlights an important challenge of our time—the growing doubt many young people feel towards institutions, often influenced by the spread of misleading or inaccurate information.

LARSSMUN is more than just a conference; it is a platform for growth, dialogue, and transformation. It brings together students from different backgrounds to simulate the United Nations, helping them develop skills in diplomacy, research, negotiation, and public speaking. Here, you will test your ideas, broaden your perspective, and engage with real-world issues in a meaningful way.

As a delegate, you are expected to come prepared, stay open-minded, and participate actively in committee sessions. Engage in respectful and constructive debate, support your arguments with credible research, and collaborate with others to draft practical and well-thought-out resolutions. Your ability to listen, adapt, and work with diverse viewpoints will be key to your success.

During plenary sessions, you will have the opportunity to present and defend your ideas before a larger audience. This is your moment to communicate clearly, think on your feet, and contribute to building consensus. Confidence, clarity, and critical thinking will set you apart.

Beyond the sessions, LARSSMUN offers a chance to build friendships, strengthen leadership skills, and better understand the role young people play in governance. I encourage you to fully embrace this experience—ask questions, challenge assumptions, seek the truth, and lead with integrity in a world where information must be carefully examined.

Once again, welcome to LARSSMUN 2026. As we look ahead, let us come together to rebuild trust, inspire meaningful change, and lead with purpose.

Thank you.

Christabel Madaki
Secretary General, LARSSMUN 2026
