On behalf of the Secretariat, I am delighted to warmly welcome our delegates, teachers, parents, partners, and all visitors. NISSMUN is more than just a conference—it is a dynamic platform where secondary school students grow into confident, informed, and globally aware young leaders. Here, you will step into the role of diplomats, explore real-world issues, and work together to develop practical, thoughtful solutions.

Our 2026 theme, “Bridging the Youth and Government Divide in the Age of Misinformation,” speaks to a challenge that affects us all. In today’s fast-moving digital world, information is everywhere—but not always accurate. This has widened the gap between young people and those in positions of authority. At NISSMUN, we challenge delegates to think critically, communicate responsibly, and put forward ideas that promote trust, transparency, and meaningful civic engagement.

The core of your experience will be the committee and plenary sessions, where you will participate in structured debates guided by established rules of procedure. You will be expected to research deeply, present clear and informed positions, listen to diverse perspectives, and work collaboratively to draft resolutions. Beyond these sessions, we encourage you to embody the true spirit of diplomacy—showing respect, integrity, cultural awareness, and leadership in every interaction.

To our teachers and parents, thank you for your continued support and for investing in the growth of these young leaders. To our partners, we appreciate your commitment to education and youth development. And to our delegates, I encourage you to fully embrace this opportunity—be confident in your ideas, respectful in your engagement, and open to learning from others.

As you explore this website and prepare for the conference, remember that you are part of a community committed to building a more informed, inclusive, and connected world.

I look forward to welcoming you to a truly memorable and impactful NISSMUN 2026.

Thank you.

Omojadesola Ibironke
