Chiderah Onuorah of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja emerged the overall winner of the NISSMUN 2017 conference theme essay competition. He was presented with a cheque of N250, 000 only at his school by Chika Nwaozuzu, the Chairman, Governing Council of the Nigeria Model United Nations Society (NigMUNS).
Chiderah came tops in the Essay Competition participated by over 1,000 student delegates from various schools across the country who took part in the NISSMUN 2017 Conference.
His in-depth understanding of the conference theme: “Preventing Young People from getting involved in Cyber Crime” and display of literary prowess was quite unique and captivating. His ability to discuss the problem and proffer possible solutions within the stipulated limit of 500 words was pivotal. This success will forever mark as a stepping stone in his life journey.
The NigMUNS Chairman thanked the school for their unbroken participation at the annual NISSMUN conference. He commended the school management for investing quality time in raising decent young men and women of high moral and intellectual background.
The Principal of the school, Fr. Joe-Stanis Okoye, SJ, expressed his appreciation to the organization for fulfilling the promise made to the prize winners. He assured the NigMUNS Chairman of their continuous participation at the annual NISSMUN programme, as the conference over time has become an integral part of the school’s extra curriculum activities. The Principal equally advised the prize winner to continue making the school, the nation and world proud wherever he finds himself.
Chiderah, who could not hide his joy before his Principal, teachers and some of his school mates who participated at the NISSMUN 2017 Conference, reiterated his commitment to become the best wherever he finds himself and that this is just one of those beautiful steps he needs to fulfil his dream of becoming the president of Nigeria in future.
